Canon Presents the Sleek Reborn What do you do when your product features and the quality of your printouts are the same as your competitors? If you are Canon, you make the outside of your product look as beautiful as your product performs. The focus of the launch of Canon’s printers, multifunction printers, and scanners is on the product’s industrial design. The products still offer outstanding performance based on speed, quality and ease-of-usejust as customers have always expected from Canon. ![]() JDA welcomed the opportunity to develop a photo style that would highlight the beauty and sleek lines of each product. The silver tone and black accents of the product coordinate with the Canon digital cameras which reminds the customer of Canon’s rich heritage in photo imagery. The products were shot at dramatic angles on black plexiglass. The images were rich and elegant and proved to be a challenge to print. By utilizing double black duotones for the product and background, we were able to maintain consistency from piece to piece. This new look was utilized on spec sheets, retail POP and sales materials. So far the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Karen Miller, Manager, Marketing Communications (Inkjet Printer Marketing), reports that: “JDA's re-design of our collateral materials was instrumental in changing our consumer's focus about our inkjet printer products. For the first time, our materials showcased the new, sleek design of our product where the copy and specs became secondary. From JDA's original design concepts, to their art direction at the photo shoots, to the final printed pieces, the high level of intergrity JDA kept throughout the process made for final pieces that were received with applause while effectively sending the message we wanted to convey.” JDA Speeds Up Our Connection We upgraded our Internet from 1.5Mbps connection to a 15Mbps connection (15X the speed of our original DSL) through Verizon FIOS Business Services. This enables us to download and upload our files faster, which benefits our clients and vendors. JDA Promotes from Within, and Hires aNew Designer Kai Manalang, Art Director at JDA, is about to embark on an exciting new career as a mother.
