PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Redesign Spyder Package for Apple Stores

Objectives: 1) communicate a clear message for the product; 2) cut down the amount of copy on the existing packaging; 3) help broaden distribution; 4) maximize shelf impact. This final objective was difficult because retailers were merchandising the product with software instead of in the computer hardware section of their stores.

Execution: How did we address the objectives? 1) The front of the package succinctly communicates the purpose of the product. The icons are a quick read and reinforce the message. The previous package had much more copy, and repeated several messages. It also wasn’t clear that this product included printer calibration software.Read More

Results: The previous package design had been a stumbling block for Datacolor, slowing its entré into the Apple retail stores. After our first round of comps, Datacolor presented the new design, and Apple signed them up!
